Label Details on the Slings

A polyester sling is produced under the CEN standard, which is the European Community standard. It has colour codes according to tonnages. Polyester slings are light and safe products that provide ease of use in every tonnage. All materials have labels showing the working load limit. The label details on the sling contain information such as the length of use in meters, the year of manufacture, the manufacturer’s code, the return tracking code, the norm in which the lifting sling is produced, and the carrying capacity according to its shapes.

What Information Should Be Included On the Polyester Sling Label?

Slings produced with 100 % polyester are highly preferred among lifting equipment due to their strength and safety. Some important information should be included on the labels on the cloth sling. What information should the labels of webbing slings contain? Let’s examine.

• The working load limit of the slings must be specified.
• The manufacturing material of the slings must be indicated.
• If it has a fastener, the quality class must be specified.
• The nominal length must be included on the label.
• Manufacturer’s information, trademark or other understandable promotional information should be included.
• A traceability code must also be included.

Sling manufacturers are obliged to provide some information to users. The information that manufacturers should provide to users is as follows:

• Manufacturer’s name, address, trademark or other identifying information,
• Working load limit information for single and multi-arm sling types,
• Information on the type of sling, including fastener, number of sling levers and nominal length,
• Knowledge of the raw material of the material from which the sling is made,
• If there is a fastener used in the sling, information indicating the quality class,
• Information if protective material is used in the sling,
• The standard number of the sling,
• Certificate of type,
• The safety factor of the sling (according to TS EN 1492-2 standards, the minimum safety factor is 6:1 or 7:1.).

If additional materials such as hooks and rings are to be used, the static test coefficient information of these materials should be given to the user.
