Polyester slings are among the preferred materials due to their strong structure during load lifting. Straps are made of durable, flexible and soft-textured polyester materials. Polyester slings that do not allow the products to be scratched or crushed are produced in different qualities. The strongest is the 7:1 slings. 7:1 means that at least seven tons of force must be applied to break the sling with a safe working load of one ton. They are usually slightly thicker products. The easy-to-use polyester lifting sling is lightweight and easy to store. It is resistant to moisture and does not tear in a humid environment. It should be kept away from flammable materials.Polyester slings should not be carried more than the tonnage specified on them during use, and some storage conditions should be observed to have a longer life after use.
How Should Polyester Straps Be Stored?
For polyester slings to last longer, they should be checked at certain intervals. At the same time, attention should be paid to storage conditions. We can list the polyester sling storage conditions as follows:
- Slings should be stored by hanging.
- Slings should be kept in a dry environment without moisture.
- They should be ventilated in a suitable environment.
- They should not be exposed to sunlight (Ultraviolet rays).
- They are recommended not to be stored under fluorescent light.
- They should be kept away from high temperatures.
- They should be stored in environments where they will not be squeezed or crushed.
- They should not come into contact with liquid chemicals.
- Cloth slings exposed to seawater should be washed with warm water and dried in a shaded environment.
- It is recommended to store unused slings packed.
- Ropes wetted with water should never be dried in the dryer. They should be allowed to dry in a completely natural environment.
- They should be kept away from flame due to the risk of ignition. It should be noted that synthetic materials are easily flammable.
- Polyester and polyamide should be stored at -40 ºC to 100 ºC and polypropylene should be stored at -40 ºC to 80 ºC.
- If the environment is humid at low temperatures, icing occurs in the sling weaving. Since these pieces of ice will act as a cutter, they will damage the sling from the inside. Polyester slings must be left out of use until the room temperature reaches 21°C.
If the storage conditions we listed are not followed, the polyester sling is at risk of breaking and its life is shortened.
