Polyester slings offer convenience during load lifting thanks to their strong structure. Slings get their flexible and soft structure from polyester material. Polyester slings, which prevent scratching or crushing of products, are produced in different qualities. 7:1 is the most powerful sling type. In a 7:1 sling, 1 tonne is the safe working load. 7 means that a minimum of 7 tonnes of force must be applied for the sling to break.
Easy-to-use polyester slings are lightweight and easy to store. Moisture-resistant slings do not tear in humid environments. Due to its polyester structure, it should be kept away from flammable materials. After the use of polyester slings, some storage conditions should be observed for long life.
What are Polyester Sling Storage Conditions?
For polyester slings to offer a longer-lasting use, they should be checked by experts in three-month and annual periods. When the polyester sling storage conditions are followed, it has a longer service life. Polyester sling storage conditions are as follows:
- Slings should be protected by hanging when not in use.
- Slings should be kept in a dry and moisture-free environment.
- They should be stored in a ventilated environment.
- They should not be exposed to ultraviolet rays.
- They are not suitable to be stored under fluorescent light.
- They should be kept away from high temperatures as it may be affected by heat.
- They should not be exposed to compression or crushing.
- It is important to prevent contact with liquid chemicals.
- Cloth slings that have been exposed to seawater should be washed with warm water and then dried in a shady environment without being completely exposed to light.
- It is more convenient to store unused slings as packaged.
- Slings exposed to water should not be dried in a dryer. They should be left to dry in the natural environment.
- Since polyester is flammable due to its structure, it should be kept away from flames.
- Polyester slings should be stored at -40 °C to 100 °C and Polypropylene should be stored at -40 °C to 80 °C.
- If the ambient humidity is low, icing may occur inside the sling. The formed pieces may damage the sling from the inside as they will act as cutters.
- Polyester slings should not be used until the room temperature is 21°C.
- If all storage conditions are followed, the possible wear and damage risks of polyester slings are minimised and a longer life is obtained.
